Scenes From The Weekend

Just me or did that weekend fly by? I mean it happens every week, but when the weather is perfect I swear the days move faster than usual.

But such is life.

Saturday was the definition of picture-perfect. It was hot, the beach was packed, a pod of DOLPHINS swam back and forth, and the Golden Gate Bridge towered over in all of its international orange glory. It really doesn’t get any better.

Then the fog returned on Sunday. With a vengeance. Like a slap in the face for how gorgeous the weather was Saturday. I felt like it was SF taunting me. But don’t think for one second that stopped us from hitting the beach again though. Only this time instead of shorts and bathing suits it was sweatshirts and blankets. And a Whole Foods picnic. Probably the best we’ve ever had.

Including Drunken Goat Cheese.

Yes, that’s a thing. It’s goat’s milk cheese soaked in red wine for 48-72 hours. And it’s unbelievable. (And available at Whole Foods).

Other than beach time there was lots of Pilates Teacher Training (HOME STRETCH MY FRIENDS, and some exciting news on that front to share in the coming weeks), lots of amazing food involving tuna tartare, jicama crab taquitos, and 4 kinds of tacos (and yes it starts with a Mama and ends with a -Cita. How ever did you guess that?) and relaxation. Perfect weekend if you ask me.

Only a little bit too short. :)

To bring back a little bit of that spring/summer feeling, I picked up this week’s flowers (I have a thing about buying fresh flowers every Sunday), and they lit up the room like crazy.

There’s also a vase full of tulips that hasn’t yet bloomed yet, so they weren’t worthy of a photograph. Sometimes I get carried away in (all) types of shopping, flowers included.

Workout wise, the week wrapped up like this:

Thursday - 5 Mile Run (9:22 pace), Pilates Reformer Class

Friday - 5 Mile Run (9:05 pace)

Saturday - REST

Sunday - 45 minutes on the Elliptical (Incline 20, Resistance 9) which I read Runner’s World The Trail special edition. I now want to trail run all day every day. Anyone care to join me?

Hope your week is off to a great start!

What was the best part of your weekend?
