Workout Round Up

Hope you’re all having a great weekend! Mine is winding down with a cozy fire, a bowl of ice cream, and the Golden Globes (I live for awards show season – and a lot of that is just to see what everyone is wearing.) This is why we have two TVs in our apartment. ;-)

This week I felt like I really jumped back on the wagon work-out wise. And coincidentally week 1 of Detox 2012 is over! 21 more days of sobriety here I (hesitantly) come.

Monday - Mish-Mash Treadmill Interval work-out (about 5.5 miles) and a Pilates Reformer class

Tuesday - Stationary Bike – 12 miles, Hill Level 10

On Jury Duty Eve I spent the night at my parents house to minimize my commute the next morning and was in the mood for some cardio so I hopped on their stationary bike with a People magazine (big shock, I know).

Wednesday - 10.5 mile run (welcome back double digits!), Pilates Reformer Class

Post-Jury Duty I set off for 5 miles, and ended up covering around 10.5 miles and felt amazing to just get out and run (sans Garmin). A great run to jump back into my longer runs.

Thursday - 3 mile run, Pilates Reformer Class

I wanted to shake out my legs a bit, so I ran 3 easy miles on the treadmill before my Pilates class. My legs felt a bit heavy, but nothing crazy – I was pretty relieved. After not running more than 5 miles for about 5-6 weeks post-marathon, I was a little worried how my legs would feel after a 10-miler, but I guess muscle memory is real? They felt great all things considered!

Friday – REST

And eat homemade pizza :)

Saturday - Walk 2.5 miles to brunch, brunch, walk 2.5 miles home. Stationary Bike – 12 miles, Hill Level 10

Oh, I also hung out with this handsome little devil for the better part of the afternoon.

His name is Ricky, he’s 9 weeks old, and I have an open puppy-sitting invitation from his gracious owners (who we actually know, I’m not that much of a puppy creep) to hang out with him, and his sister Lucy. I’m in love. (Get it? Ricky and Lucy? Ridiculously adorable.)

Sunday – 18 Mile Bike Ride

My dad asked if I wanted to go for a long bike ride with him, and it was definitely an offer I couldn’t refuse. He had been talking up his bike route for a few weeks, and how beautiful and fun it was, so I jumped at the chance. And we pretty much rode like Lance.

And then I drooled over my dream bike for about 7 minutes. I think it’s time to sell my bike, and bring this little lady home. She even matches my biking shoes. It’s fate.

Time to relax! Hope you’re enjoying the weekend! (And if you have tomorrow off, enjoying it even more! For me. With a glass of wine?) :)

A Moo Point

TGIF!! We’re almost there! (Well some of you are already “there” and I get jealous thinking about it then I think that while I was sleeping at 7am this morning, you were at work…. so basically it’s a moo point.)

A moo point. It just doesn’t matter.

I’m hoping that you are all as equally disturbed as I am over the trainwreck that is Deena Nicole on last night’s Jersey Shore. I mean really?! I cringed for a good 27 minutes. And just cringed again thinking about how icky it was while I was cringing.

I’m also a little happy Ron and Sam are back together for entertainment value purposes only. Because you know it’s only a matter of time (AKA next week) before they have a blowout. Or the Sitch gets decked. Either way. I’m game.

Just please no more Deena in compromising situations. It’s rough on the eyes.

In honor of Jersey Shore (and mainly because I think it’s just an easy Thursday night dinner and is fast becoming a tradition) I whipped up a 5-minute (not kidding) pizza for boyfriend and I to have for dinner.

I also performed a magic trick and made the entire pizza disappear! Who knew I was that talented?

  • Whole Wheat Boboli Thin Crust
  • My mom’s homemade pesto (with basil she grows in the backyard!)
  • Reduced Fat Mozzarella
  • Sundried Tomatoes
  • Spinach
  • Grilled Chicken

5 minutes to prep, 9 minutes to bake. . . 30 seconds to inhale.

That is what I call an easy (and delicious!) dinner.

Some eats today?

Another Blueberry Mocha Smoothie – only subtract the vanilla protein powder + cocoa powder and add in the life-changer… Chocolate SunWarrior Protein Powder.

Unreal. I LOVED it. And drank it in record time.

THIS was actually delicious. Fresh juice from the Plant Cafe Organic.

  • Broccoli
  • Kale
  • Celery
  • Apple
  • Ginger

I need a juicer.

Follow up by my last Dr. Praeger’s California Veggie Burger on a Sandwich Thin with a Swiss Cheese Laughing Cow Wedge. . . and my daily bag of BBQ PopChips. (It’s an addiction and I’m just not willing to fight it.)

Time to finish up the day at work. . . and fully enjoy my rest day of the week from Marathon Training! :)

Have a lovely Friday!

Fist Pump Friday

TGIF!

I am so happy it’s Friday I can’t even tell you. Add to that it’s a rest day on the training plan! :)

Last night we watched the Jersey Shore premiere and let me just say I cannot WAIT for this season to play out.

  • Situation and Snooki? Really? Did he have to tell Ronnie in the most creepy way possible?
  • Was anyone else gagging at the end when Pauly and Deena did that weird things with their mouths together? (I’m sorry, but that just can’t be defined as kissing. It looked painful and weird. Pauly looked miserable.)
  • Did JWoww get really skinny or have something done to her face? Something seems off.
  • Can anyone else not wait for the Ron/Situation throw down? This just screams quality television to me.

We obviously enjoyed a homemade Italian feast while watching our favorite cast in their “motherland” (a term I use loosely because I’m pretty sure JWOWW isn’t even Italian.)

Easily one of our best yet.

  • BBQ Sauce
  • Chopped Chicken
  • Red onion
  • Spinach
  • Fresh Rosemary
  • Mozzarella and Romano cheese
  • Pesto brushed on the crust
  • TJ’s Whole Wheat Pizza Dough

**********

Since no one told SF it’s actually August, it still looks like January outside, so for breakfast (and to go with the merino WOOL sweater I had to wear to combat hypothermia) I went with some piping hot oats.

Nothing screams summertime like hot oats and wool sweaters.

  • 1/2 c oats
  • Unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • spoonful almond butter
  • cinnamon
  • fresh blueberries

Delicious breakfast! I’d still rank it behind smoothies but these oats definitely showed up as a contender today.

Off to get some work done…. enjoy your Friday!

Do you watch Jersey Shore? What are your thoughts?

If not, what’s your favorite reality TV show?
